What is a bioclimatic pergola?
How is it different from the usual one?
Aluminum pergolas are called bioclimatic because their design allows for active regulation of the microclimate beneath the roof, adapting to weather conditions. The key difference from a standard pergola is the roof system with movable aluminum slats.
Adjustable slats
It can be opened, closed, or tilted to control the amount of sunlight entering the space. The 4 x 6 m pergola is equipped with two motorized slat lifts, allowing the two sections of the roof to be controlled independently.
Natural ventilation
The slanted slats allow air to circulate, reducing overheating on hot days.
Rain protection
With the slats closed, you can spend time under the pergola outdoors even when it’s raining. Rainwater drains away through the built-in gutters.
Energy conservation
By controlling light and shade, the need for air conditioning or artificial lighting is reduced.
Why choose a pergola?
Durability and reliability
The pergola frame is made of aluminum, and the roof slats are made of a double-walled aluminum profile. All components are coated with a durable, powder-coated finish that ensures the structure’s resistance to environmental factors.
Cozy at any time of day
The pergolas we offer come standard with built-in LED lighting. The perimeter lighting system helps create a cozy atmosphere in the evenings while highlighting the modern design.
An innovative roof
The roof covering consists of automatically controlled, movable slats. You can adjust them using a remote control, setting the angle to suit your needs—enjoy the sun’s rays or shield yourself from them! When closed, the roof becomes watertight, and water is directed through a discreetly concealed gutter and drainage system. This patio pergola features a modern, barely visible 24V motor, built into the space between the roof slats and the pergola structure.
Adaptability
You can also easily use the pergola as a canopy for a hot tub area, a pool, or a car.
Flexibility in terms of design
A pergola is easy to adapt to any style—from classic to modern! Plus, it pairs perfectly with other materials: glass, concrete, wood, stone, and more.
Easy to use and maintain
You can easily control the light and airflow using the remote control. Cleaning the pergola structure is a breeze. There’s no need to waterproof or paint it every so often.
It complements the landscape beautifully
A pergola adds a unique touch to a courtyard, garden, or other outdoor space, serving as a decorative accent.
Pergola installation
Most people interested in building a pergola tend to ask questions about its installation. In order for us to advise you, we need information (photos, videos, a discussion of the situation) about the LOCATION where you plan to install this type of structure.
Some initial tips on what you should know:
- Consider where the pergola will be built—on an existing deck (wooden, WPC decking, tile, etc.), pavers, the ground, or a balcony. Check whether the ground and foundation are stable enough, or if a foundation will be needed.
- Check to see if there are any underground utilities (electricity, water, sewer) in the area.
- Check to see if building a pergola will affect your neighborhood.
If you are installing the pergola on an existing deck, you need to assess whether the deck has sufficient load-bearing capacity and whether it has points where the pergola posts can be securely anchored. For example, the deck boards themselves are not suitable for fastening — the pergola must be fastened to the structures beneath the boards. Therefore, these structures and their location must be assessed. It may be necessary to install additional support structures on the deck.
Pergola mounting
Without a doubt, it is best to anchor the pergola posts to newly poured concrete footings. Therefore, our advice to you is to decide and plan what kind of pergola you intend to build—and prepare the site for it—before you even start building the deck.
If you plan to attach the pergola to the wall of another structure, and that structure is still under construction, consider the appropriate wall anchors as well.
For those who have decided to purchase our pergolas, we have prepared a design for the necessary footings, and if you have already built your patio, we will help you determine the options for installing the pergola we offer and, if needed, suggest fasteners.
The pergolas we offer are automatic, feature LED lighting, and have an integrated drainage system. So, when considering installation options, please also take note of:
- Is there an electrical outlet to plug in the canopy;
- Will the pergola be connected to the drainage system, or will the water drain into the ground.
